As a part of the wider veterinary community, we rely on the support of other companion animal companies, local vets, and the general community.

We hopefully provide a service in return, including the support our local dog charity SHAK (Safe Homes and Kindness). This is a dog charity based just north of Alnwick whose aim is to take in dogs with behaviour issues and rehabilitate them. For those dogs that are unable to go into a home environment, they are cared for long term by the charity, allowing them to live a long and healthy life.

We visit the kennels twice a year to see all the dogs as well as seeing them regularly in our clinic. During our last visit we were informed that their dog scales were broken. Being able to weigh these dogs regularly is essential for their care, especially those on medications. After a few failed attempts at fixing the scales (not even our very talented handy man could do it), we contacted our Hills rep who we work closely with for advice and supply of our dog foods (both our normal and prescription), and they very kindly donated a new set of scales.

Without this support the charities couldn’t continue. So, we just want to say thanks - life is much better with a little help from our friends. Thank you, Hills!

Don’t forget that SHAK is one of our chosen charities and they will be at our Christmas Fair this weekend on Saturday 4th December 2021. Find out more about the SHAK (Safe Homes and Kindness) charity here.
